My Old Home 03:19
Oh my old home that stood on the hill deep in my mind I remember it still lookin' back with my youthful eyes I can see wood full of birches and hives full of bees The flowers, the roses, the fruit trees in bloom how long ago now I still smell from my room the night time so quiet and the forest so deep crickets and peepers would lull me to sleep And the cat in the yard and the dog on the hill and the rooster would crow at dawn and at will Oh the simplest homestead on the edge of the wood I'd go back there right now, if only I could there stands the cottage, the outhouse for two the old covered bridge and the creek that I knew where the beauty of sunlight shines down on the land and the back porch, the sun porch and the rock garden stand And the cat in the yard and the dog on the hill and the rooster would crow at dawn and at will Oh the simplest homestead on the edge of the wood I'd go back there right now, if only I could I run and hide in a forest of leaves, it's a walk down the path of my mind's daydreams I lie on my back and look up to the sky I'll leave this old homestead the day after I die And the cat in the yard and the dog on the hill and the rooster would crow at dawn and at will Oh the simplest homestead on the edge of the wood I'd go back there right now, if only I could

Deep in the hills of Indiana I can still hear that lonesome banjo ring that's where I left to roam and ramble where the dogwood blossoms in the spring The sun shines softly through the branches with all the warmth that it can bring the wind is like a gentle whisper where the dogwood blossoms in the spring And when the shadows start to lengthen the whippoorwill begins to sing my thoughts go back to my childhood where the dogwood blossoms in the spring Deep in the hills of Indiana I can still hear that lonesome banjo ring that's where I left to roam and ramble where the dogwood blossoms in the spring where the dogwood blossoms in the spring

about

We recorded this album at the beginning of March 2020 with plans to release it as a store download card. Covid-19 came to Minnesota in the middle of March and subsequently closed our physical shop for the time being. We're taking our music online with lessons and these tracks. Donate or share to support the store during this time if you'd like. Or you can just take a listen and remember we'll be able to gather together to listen and play music with friends sometime in the near future. We miss you all. Thank you for being such a wonderful community of customers and friends!
